Space Science Outreach and Research (SSOAR) has three divisions: Space Science Projects, Outreach, and Research. Through this organizational structure they can reach a broad audience and accomplish their objectives efficiently. Space Science Projects are those that develop current knowledge into a coherent and usable format. Such projects can be targeted to any level of education and focus on increasing accessibility to current information and technology. Their outreach programs seek not only to increase science literacy but to reach audiences that typically would not be exposed to space science topics.
Through research they are able to profoundly contribute to the advancement of space technology. Research projects emphasize providing opportunities to undergraduates. In doing so, they are able to have long-lasting influence in the space science industry, as many of their participants will certainly pursue careers in related fields. SSOAR provides opportunities for leadership and international collaboration in the space sciences, with the intent of promoting cultural exchange, science literacy, and technological advancement. Their projects facilitate involvement of students, scientists, and the general public.
